Vermicu what?

Vermiculite. A miniral that improves the water holding capacity of the soil and is responsible for storing nutrients and releasing them slowly to plants.

It is an important ingredient for our Square Foot Gardening soil mix and takes a bit of trouble to get hold of it. But I’ve found a supplier and ordered it. Waiting for delivery… today? tomorrow?

Great news for our future Square Foot Gardening projects in Sri Lanka as I just read that peat moss can be replaced by the dust that holds coconut fibres together. And there certainly is enough of that in the country! (Geekgardener)
