Working with children
Work with children in the heart of Sri Lanka
In the Garden of Eden, the pearl of the Indian Ocean, a challenge awaits you.
LEO Project Foundation works with a number of orphanages & children’s homes. These generally house from 20 to 300 children, aged between 3 and 18 from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Even though many of the children have access to government education they would greatly benefit from any help with their schooling.
As English language teachers are hard to find and English communication skills are often neglected at school, the chance to improve their English skills with your help will greatly benefit them and will help create many more opportunities for their future.
To learn about a different culture, different manners of interaction and simply to be given the attention the staff members don’t have time for, means a world of difference.
“Working with these children is a most amazing experience. The smiles on their faces and their happiness despite their situation is simply amazing!”
Your chance to make a difference
This is your chance to become involved in a variety of activities to help these children flourish. Help them with their homework, play games, sing songs, indulge in arts & drama and social education, you name it.
All projects involve an element of English teaching, but methods and duration differ from project to project, from person to person.
If you love to work with children and young people in a different culture this is for you. Be enthusiastic, patient, imaginative, resourceful, have initiative and be motivated and you will star. Working with children and young people is challenging and ever so rewarding.
